USA: LG Viper 4G LTE Sprintfor for pre-order on  April 20.

LG Electronics, which is aggressively tapping into the American market, revealed the new “Viper 4G LTE” on Friday (KST), in collaboration with Sprint Nextel.



The new long-term evolution (LTE) product is the first smartphone to be launched from Sprint in its upcoming 4G LTE Network, and will be available by April 20. by pre-order and hit the shelves two days later.

LG Viper will be distributed through Sprint’s sale channels, and offers a 1.2GHz dual-core processor and contains Android 2.3. Following its usual sleek design, the mobile also adds a new glass screen protector for better display under sunlight. The usual high-tech features are contained as well, such as applications, widgets and games. 

The model continues the success of the “Viper” brand, along with “Spectrum” and “Connect 4G,” all of which initiated sales in October of last year via Verizon and AT&T. With the added collaboration with Sprint, LG has now secured America’s three major distributors and service providers of wireless technology. 

LG has been promoting its LTE products in the United States, which have seen stellar success in the domestic market. The company has been trying to catch up with LTE worlds’ sales leader Samsung Electronics, which is dominating the global market with 1.7 million sales from October to December, according to Strategy Analysis Inc (SA). Runner-up LG sold 800,000 units in the same period.

SA also predicts that sales for LTE this year will be around 67 million worldwide, with 22 percent in the United States. LG’s already high numbers are likely boost with the partnership with Sprint.

LG Viper is also the mobile carrier’s first eco-friendly device with recyclable casing and packaging.
