Google Maps Adds for Android  Indoor Walking Directions. 

Google today introduced a new version of Google Maps for Android that offers indoor walking directions for venues in the United States and Japan. This new feature is available to venues that have uploaded their floor plans to Google’s mapping portal.

Google also extended its Business Photos program service that provides interactive 360-degree imagery of local businesses interiors. The service that was initiated in the United States in April 2010 is now available in the United Kingdom, Australia, New Zealand, France, Canada, Ireland and the Netherlands.

 In addition, this new version of Google Maps embeds Google Offers (deals) in the United States. “Some Google Offers can be purchased and saved for later while others are immediately available for free,“ explains Google. 

“With free Google Offers, press ‘Use now’ to redeem instantly or ‘Save for later’ for future use. You can also opt-in to receive notifications in the app when there are offers near you.“

SONY Hayabusa (LT29i) next Android smartphone, with a  a 7m.m case.

 Said to be powered by Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich, the LT29i, aka the Hayabusa, is pegged with a Qualcomm Snapdragon S4 chipset with an upgraded graphics processor unit. The battery is listed as being 2,200mAh, which puts it slightly above most of today's Android smartphones. As impressive as this all sounds, consider that Sony is rumored to squeeze this into a 7mm case.

What's more, BriefMobile is reporting that the LT29i will feature a 4.55-inch 720p HD display and boast a 13-megapixel camera with high dynamic range video. For Sony it would be its largest screen and highest-resolution camera so far.

LG announced the availability of its Optimus 3D Max smartphone in Europe. 

 The device was unveiled at Mobile World Congress in February and allows users to see 3D images without the need for special eyewear.

 The phone includes a 3D convertor, which can convert 2D content from Google Earth and Maps into 3D, and a 3D video editor. The new device runs the Gingerbread version of Android, has a dual-core 1.2GHz processor, NFC and a lighter construction compared to its predecessor, the Optimus 3D.

SEOUL, Apr. 23, 2012 – LG's latest achievement in the glasses-free 3D space -- the Optimus 3D Max -- will kick-off its global roll-out today starting in Europe. As first seen at Mobile World Congress 2012, the second-generation 3D smartphone boasts an enhanced chipset and more enticing 3D entertainment features in a slimmer and lighter body.

"We are deliberately pushing the limits of mobile entertainment innovation with the Op-timus 3D Max," said Dr. Jong-seok Park, President and CEO of LG Electronics Mobile Communications Company. The Optimus 3D Max now includes a new 3D Converter which allows for a greater va-riety of 3D content as it converts 2D content from Google Earth, Google Maps and oth-er mapping apps into 3D. Visitors at MWC 2012 also raved about the device's unique 3D video editor which allows the editing of 3D video on the phone in real time. And the 3D Hot Key mounted on the side of the phone enables users to easily toggle between 2D and 3D. The Optimus 3D Max includes 3D-style cubicle icons in addition to its customizable icons which can be amended by applying the users' own photos through the Icon Customizer feature.

Additional features, which will be available through an upcoming maintenance release (MR), include a HD Converter to offer high resolution content to be viewed on a TV connected through MHL (Mobile High-Definition Link) and Range Finder, which cal-culates the distance between the camera and a subject as well as the dimensions of an object through triangulation.

As for its new form-factor, the Optimus 3D Max is 2mm slimmer and 20g lighter than its predecessor, measuring only 9.6 mm thin and weighing 148g. The 5MP camera on the rear captures both photos and video in 3D using its dual lenses. The recorded material can be viewed directly on the smartphone in glasses-free 3D or on a 3D capable computer monitor or TV.

According to Notebooknews.de, the production for the Galaxy tab 2 10.1 tablet has been halted as Samsung is upgrading the 1 GHz dual core processor to a quad core processor which is expected to be in the 1.2 - 1.5 GHz range. Though reason for this sudden change in the strategy has not been reported, it is obvious that improved processor would give the Samsung tablet a clear edge over its competitors.

 The Galaxy Tab 2 10.1 currently features a dual core 1 GHz processor coupled with a 1 GB of DDR 2 RAM for better multitasking and performance. The tablet features the all new PLS (Plane to line switching) technology based display, which allows it to display better colours, contrast and even wider screen viewing angles than the existing IPS technology based displays.

 The 10.1 inch display features a capacitive touch and a 1204 x 800 pixel native resolution.

The tablet comes with HSPA+, 3G connectivity allowing it to get data download speeds of up to 21 Megabits per second which will come in real handy while accessing social media websites or while sharing content on various websites online.

Huawei’s Ascend P1 will be available in Hong Kong, Taiwan, and Australia through operators and retailers by May 2012, in Latin America from June 2012 and in Europe from this summer, with availability in other markets to follow, the Chinese vendor announced today.

 The dual-core processor powered device was unveiled at CES in January and is part of the Ascend portfolio of smartphones which include the quad-core Ascend D and D XL, which feature 1.2GHz and 1.5GHz chips, respectively. Pricing details for the P1 were not announced.

Rumors: Samsung Galaxy S3 photos leaked in Brazil.

Gizmodo Brasil have been tipped by an anonymous source, the Samsung Galaxy S3 might be thinner, a little larger and  slightly heavier (cause the ceramic case) than the Galaxy S2. Sports a 12 Mpxls camera.

Apparently the S3 will be just an incremental update to the S2.

The device has a front button , despite rumors it will no have it.

The Boeing Co. is developing a mobile phone based on the Android operating system that will compete with other manufacturers offering highly secure communication devices, company officials said April 10.

Roger Krone, president of Boeing Network and Space Systems, told reporters in Arlington, Va., that this was probably the first time the aerospace and defense industry giant will offer a communication device designed to use cellular networks.

The company is near the end of the development cycle and getting ready to launch what he called “the Boeing phone” in late 2012, said Brian Palma, vice president of the company’s secure infrastructure group.

Competitors offering similar secure, encrypted devices are charging $15,000 to $20,000 per device and are using proprietary software and hardware, Palma said. 

“We are going to drive down towards a lower price point, but … not mass-market price point,” he said referring to iPhones, BlackBerries and other consumer market smartphones.

“We believe that there is significant interest in the defense side as well as the intelligence side and in the commercial world as well,” Palma said.

Boeing sees a larger business trend where employees once went to work to take advantage of information technology because it was far superior to what they had at home. Nowadays, it is the opposite. The consumer products have outstripped the office IT, and they wonder why their work has far less robust computers and phones. 

This is why an Android-based system was chosen. The users of these high-end phones want the same ability to use popular applications while knowing that their business communications are secure, Palma said. The company also sees opportunities for the phone in the emergency responder market.

The phone will “give them what they are used to seeing on consumer market smartphones and give them the functionality from the security perspective,” Krone added.

“We are all living off this thing,” Krone said while holding up his smartphone. “And we’re not going back. In fact the next one I have is going to be thinner, smaller and have more capability.”

Whether “the Boeing phone” will carry the company’s brand name has not been decided, Krone said. Palma also declined to reveal Boeing’s partners in the program.

Samsung Electronics Co.,  is updating its Galaxy tablets line to include a feature that lets a tablet act as a universal remote control for an entertainment center.

The storage space on the new Galaxy Tab 2 will also be expandable with small memory cards.

The tablets will come in two sizes. The 7-inch version will cost $250 and goes on sale April 22. The 10-inch version will cost $400 and goes on sale May 13.

The updated Samsung models won’t have higher-resolution screens.

 Beijing-based research firm Analysys International said in a report on Tuesday, at the end of 2011, Android had 68.4 percent of the smartphone OS market by the number of smartphones sold, up from 33.6 percent at the end of the first quarter of last year.

Apple Inc, whose iPhones are seeing strong demand from wealthier Chinese cities, posted a modest growth in 2011, with the market share of its iOs operating system rising from 4.1 percent in the first quarter to 5.7 percent at the end of the fourth quarter.

Android's rise also comes as smartphones become cheaper in China due to the sales initiatives of local mobile device makers ZTE Corp and Huawei Technologies, who sign contracts with Chinese telecoms companies to offer cheap Android handsets.

The users will now be able to add free-hand annotations. Simply use the new “Freehand” option from the context menu, or the Pencil button from the Commenting Toolbar, to make drawings or write down a comment.

Users can also easily mark up PDF content with the freehand drawing tool or the highlight, strikethrough, and underline annotation tools.

Furthermore, any annotation can be customized by changing the drawing's color, opacity, and thickness. Obviously, it's also possible to resize or delete any drawing. 

Comments can be added with the new Sticky Note function. Users only need to long press anywhere on the page to add a comment, or open up the sticky note via the dedicated Commenting Toolbar at the top.

Secondly, the latest version of Adobe Reader adds a useful feature that allows users to place their signatures on documents right within the application. This function is accessible from the Commenting Toolbar and via the “Signature” option from the context menu.

Last but not least, the application brings the ability to fill out PDF forms, as well as the possibility to send PDF files to others for electronic signing with Adobe EchoSign.

Aside from the new features mentioned above, Adobe Reader 10.2 comes with the following performance and stability enhancements:

- Email attachments are now stored on permanent storage;

- The ability to delete files from within Adobe Reader’s File Browser (tap and hold on a file, and then select the option menu item).

Adobe Reader 10.2 is now available as a free download via Google Play store and it should be fully compatible with all devices running Android 2.2 and up.

Motorola to launch the  Motoluxe 4-inch Android handset.

The device was announced  ahead of MWC 2012, the device sports an admirable 4-inch display and an 8-Megapixel camera (and front-facing VGA cam).

The top-end tech stops there, though; the processor tops out at 800MHz and version of Android is 2.3, rather than ICS.

It’s also got a  blue light stuck to the bottom.

The Motorola Motoluxe will be available to buy  from UK Amazon for £250 as of March 22nd.
